[] I poured the water from a container with a flat edge. Black background with 2 large diffusers. One to the left and one in front of the splash. Each with a E640 light behind them. You can see the original splashes here:!/blog

hmm, my water never ends up looking dark like that. it's an interesting effect.

Oh, I forgot the fan too. Has nothing to do with the darkness but it's what I uses to get the end of the splash to break up. As for the darkness, there was very little light when compared to the amount of black in the area. It was outside at night, so there was blackness everywhere except where the light hit these two diffusers. Naturally, any of the water that isn't reflecting the light source, will go straight black.
